The Garden- Week 4.

This is the 4th week our garden has been growing and I have to say it is doing well. Lets take a look at this week compared to last week.

In square foot gardening you have to grow stuff up. See how I put the pumpkin plant in a trellis? Once the pumpkins start growing we are going to put them into stockings(yes pantyhose) and tie them to the trellis. That way when the pumpkins start getting heavy they wont fall off the plant prematurely.

Notice how there are grass clippings around the taller plants?

A gardener told Ryan that if he puts grass clipping over the garden it will block out the sun so the soil wont dry out by midday. So far it has worked great and our soil is always moist.

One of our bell pepper plants is growing really well and it is starting to flower. The other bell pepper plants are still alive but are not growing very fast at all.

Our sweet potatoes are also doing very well. I cant wait to harvest these.

Only 2 of our tomato plants have really grown. The others are not growing taller but I can tell the stems are getting fatter. The green beans are staying the same also.

The strawberry plants are growing out of control but have not flowered yet.

And some sad news. I dont think our butternut squash is not going to make it. This is how it looked this week.

Unfortunately now I have something to submit to Garden Bloggers Death Day.
